General description

Poly (diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) solution (PDADMAC) is a cationic polyelectrolyte widely used as flocculant. This substance was prepared by free radical polymerization of diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (DADMAC) in the presence of organic peroxide catalyst.

Applications beside water treatment

PDADMAC can be combined with mesoporous silica as electrolyte solution to form a responsive carrier system, which is expected to be used for drug delivery. It can also be coated on gold nanorods to enhance cell absorption in biomedical systems. It is used for surface modification of indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate and can be used in applications based on chemical sensors or biosensors.
