Waste water treatment processes consist of a series of stages – both mechanical and biological – that clean the water and remove contaminants. However, it's not uncommon for foaming issues to arise during these stages due to the presence of surface active and foam stabilising chemicals in the wastewater.

Pumping, aeration and evolution of biological gases from digestion processes can lead to foam formation within the waste water treatment plant and affect plant efficiency. Foams can cause imperfections on surface coatings, encourage bacteria growth, produce inaccurate measurement readings and potentially even lead to financial losses for the business.

Antifoams (or defoamers) are chemical additives that prevent the formation of foam and breakdown any that's already formed. Angchao offers antifoam chemicals and products for waste water treatment applications suitable for aerobic and anaerobic digestion, clarification and settlement. These products act as antifoaming agents by preferentially displacing foam-stabilising species at the bubble surface, allowing liquid to drain – destabilising it leading to rupture. This destabilising effect is purely physical and does not rely on any chemical reaction.

We supply a range of DEFOAMERS chemistries including:

Mineral oil
Silicone
Natural organic
Synthetic organic

These antifoams are available to meet the particular requirements of various wastewater applications and are effective at low addition rates with typical dosage levels in the range of 5-20ppm.
